Mary Lou Williams was an influential American jazz pianist, composer, and arranger who played a pivotal role in the development of jazz music. Known for her innovative compositions and arrangements, she worked with jazz legends such as Duke Ellington and Thelonious Monk. Williams' contributions to jazz, including her work on big band arrangements and her unique approach to improvisation, left an indelible mark on the genre.
