Louise Woodward is a British former nanny who became internationally known in 1997 when she was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of eight-month-old Matthew Eappen in Massachusetts, USA. The highly publicized trial sparked widespread debate about childcare practices and the responsibilities of caregivers. Woodward's case remains one of the most controversial legal cases involving a nanny and child in recent history.
