Virgil Thomson was an American composer born on November 25, 1896. He is known for his contributions to classical music, particularly in the realm of opera and orchestral works. Thomson's style often blended American themes with classical traditions, earning him recognition as a significant figure in 20th-century music. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 1949 for his opera Four Saints in Three Acts. Virgil's legacy includes his influence on American music and his dedication to the arts.
