Pete McCloskey, the former congressman from California, gained national prominence as a leading voice for environmental conservation and social justice during the tumultuous years of the 1960s and 1970s. From his co-authorship of the Endangered Species Act to his advocacy for campaign finance reform and opposition to the Vietnam War, McCloskey's principled leadership and commitment to public service set a standard for political integrity and moral courage that continues to inspire today.
