Fred Korematsu was an American civil rights activist known for his resistance to the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. His legal battle against the internment led to a landmark Supreme Court case and subsequent recognition of the injustice faced by Japanese Americans. Korematsu's efforts in advocating for civil liberties have made him an important figure in American history.
