Karl von Frisch was an Austrian scientist born on November 20, 1886. He is best known for his groundbreaking research on animal behavior, particularly in bees. Von Frisch discovered how bees communicate through dances, which convey information about food sources. His work significantly advanced the field of ethology, the study of animal behavior. For his contributions, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1973. He passed away on June 12, 1982, leaving a lasting impact on biology and animal communication studies.
