Jonathan Edwards was an American clergyman, theologian, and revivalist preacher, considered one of the most important figures in early American religious history. Born in 1703, Edwards played a key role in the First Great Awakening, a period of religious revival in the American colonies. His famous sermon, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God," exemplifies his powerful oratory and theological insights. Edwards's work laid the foundation for American evangelicalism, and his writings continue to influence Christian theology and philosophy.
