Ian MacKaye is an American musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the frontman for the influential punk bands Minor Threat and Fugazi. MacKaye is also a prominent figure in the DIY (do-it-yourself) ethic of the punk movement, co-founding the independent record label Dischord Records. His commitment to maintaining artistic integrity and independence has made him a key figure in the punk and alternative music scenes, influencing countless musicians and bands.
