Edmond Halley was an English astronomer and mathematician best known for predicting the orbit of Halley's Comet, which bears his name. His contributions to astronomy also include significant work on stellar proper motions and the calculation of astronomical phenomena. Halley's predictions and observations have made him a notable figure in the history of science.
