Catherine McAuley was an Irish nun and the founder of the Sisters of Mercy, a Catholic religious congregation. Born in 1778, McAuley dedicated her life to serving the poor, the sick, and the uneducated. Her work focused on providing education and social services to disadvantaged communities, and her legacy lives on through the numerous Mercy institutions worldwide that continue her mission. McAuley's commitment to social justice and education made her a prominent figure in Irish religious history.
