Carlos Castaneda was an American anthropologist and writer. His groundbreaking series of books, starting with The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge, chronicles his training in shamanism under the guidance of a Yaqui 'Man of Knowledge' named don Juan Matus. Although initially accepted as factual, the authenticity of Castaneda's accounts is now widely debated, with many scholars considering them fictional. His works have been translated into 17 languages and continue to captivate readers worldwide
