Shri Krishna emphasizes the importance of controlling one's senses. He addresses Arjuna as "O mighty-armed," signifying his strength and capability. Lord Krishna explains that a person who has mastered the art of controlling their senses and keeps them restrained from their objects is said to possess steady intelligence. Here, "senses" refer to the five sensory organs - eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and skin - along with the mind. These senses constantly seek enjoyment and pleasure from their respective objects in the external world. However, when one learns to control these senses and keeps them away from their objects, they attain a state of inner stability and strength.

Such a person is not swayed by external temptations or distractions. They remain focused and undisturbed even in challenging situations. Their intelligence becomes steady and unwavering because they are not influenced by the fleeting desires and impulses of the senses. Lord Krishna suggests that by disciplining the senses and redirecting their energies towards higher goals, one can achieve a state of inner peace and wisdom. This verse underscores the importance of self-control and mindfulness in the path of spiritual growth. It teaches us that true strength lies in mastering our own desires and impulses, rather than being controlled by them.
