"O Dhananjaya, keep far from actions that are done through personal desire and attachment to their fruits. Let your motivation be in selfless wisdom."

Lesson:

This verse highlights the importance of cultivating a mindset focused on righteous conduct and spiritual growth. It teaches us to act with sincerity and dedication, free from the craving for personal rewards. Lord Krishna advises Arjuna to distance himself from actions driven by selfish desires and attachment to their outcomes. He addresses Arjuna as Dhananjaya, which means 'winner of wealth', implying his capability to achieve spiritual wisdom and victory over inner conflicts.

Krishna suggests that engaging in actions solely for the sake of personal gains leads to bondage and suffering. Such actions are driven by a narrow vision and selfish motives, ultimately leading to disappointment and dissatisfaction. Instead, Krishna urges Arjuna to adopt the path of buddhi-yoga, the yoga of wisdom or discernment.

Buddhi-yoga emphasizes performing actions with a selfless attitude, without attachment to the results. It involves cultivating a clear and unbiased understanding of one's duties and responsibilities. By focusing on wisdom rather than desire-driven actions, individuals can attain liberation from the cycle of birth and death.

Krishna encourages Arjuna to surrender to the wisdom of buddhi, which guides one towards righteous actions and inner peace. Choosing the path of wisdom over selfish desires is the mark of strength and maturity. It enables individuals to transcend worldly attachments and find satisfaction in selfless service.
