Those with limited understanding, who are inclined towards the flowery words of the Vedas, and who advocate that there is nothing beyond this, are attached to the rituals of scripture. They believe that enjoyment and power are the ultimate goals and purposes of life.

Lesson:

Lord Krishna is addressing Arjuna and discussing the viewpoints of those with limited wisdom. He talks about people who are easily swayed by the elaborate and attractive language of the Vedas but lack deeper insight and understanding. These individuals are drawn to the rituals and ceremonies prescribed in the scriptures and believe that these rituals alone are the means to attain their desires.

Krishna explains that such people are focused solely on material pleasures and rewards. They believe that the pursuit of worldly desires, such as attaining heavenly pleasures and enjoying the fruits of their actions in this life or the next, is the ultimate purpose of human existence. Their understanding is limited to the tangible and immediate pleasures offered by wealth, power, and sensory enjoyment.

However, Krishna suggests that this perspective is shallow and misguided. While rituals and material pursuits may provide temporary satisfaction, they do not lead to true accomplishment or spiritual growth. Instead, he urges Arjuna to transcend such limited desires and seek a higher path that leads to self-realization and liberation from the cycle of birth and death. These verses serve as a reminder to focus on spiritual evolution and the pursuit of inner peace and wisdom rather than being solely preoccupied with worldly gains and pleasures.
